JC Hawkins and his Model-A Playboys
These five gentlemen from Denmark way must be reckoned as the mostest original western swing, R&B and rockabilly group in Denmark. They formed in 2006, originally as a 6-piece, playing bluegrass, but time and weather matured these fellars and today they appear as a 5-piece and dig up the meanest rockabilly, fill the floor with peppy and bright western swing and throw in fine vocal harmonies. They can roll and tumble and lay down the coolest rhythm ‘n blues beat you would ever need to feel satisfied!
From an auto mechanic, an ex-PowerSolo guitar slinger, to a belgian/spanish double bass museum owner, right down to a salesman of duvets and lastly a bass player turned drummer, JC Hawkins and His Model-A Playboys surely can dig that beat and play like in the olden days. The heritage from the late forties and the fifties is deeply rooted within these men. The band performs original material with inspiration from the great american rooted music tradition. It’s tight, swinging and doesn’t hold back.

The band released the 7 inch “They Kept-a Rockin” in 2019 and in 2020 the LP “The Heyman Session” came out. Both released on their own record label, Mr. Lovely Recordings. With 16 years of experience, JC and The Playboys are a well oiled, lean and mean rock’n’roll machine. They’ve played in outhouses, barn houses, festivals, carmeetings, weddings, birthdays, clubs, gravel pits, and has been a regular band every year at the Rømø Motor Festival, not to mention the two times at the US Embassy in Copenhagen and any other hole in the wall both nationally and internationally.

They have shared stage with Cat lee King and his Cocks, Wild Wax Combo, Baskery and supported for Hayseed Dixie and Big Sandy and his Fly Rite Boys, the latter on two occasions.
