Slowolf‘s musical awakening began when he was given a Jimi Hendrix LP instead of a teddy bear as a child, setting him on a path that has recently seen him progress from drummer to DJ & producer; duly hitting No.1 on the Danish iTunes chart, with BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Mistajam calling him “very special” and everyone from Pigeons & Planes, Wonderland and Vice, to Clash and the Guardian drooling over his releases. Slowolf’s powerful sound rolls over the current wave of low-slung, futuristic hip-hop, underpinned by oversized, heavy bass notes and a barely restrained, pulsating beat, described best by Noisey as “adrenaline heavy and genre-defining.” Following a series of well-received remixes of Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, Rick Ross and Future, the rising beatsmith, born Andreas Asingh, embarked on a new project called #SLOWOLFFRIDAYS, where he uploaded a new track every Friday throughout the Spring from his debut EPs, Wolf Grey and Bounty. Pulling in verses from a delightfully diverse batch of wordsmiths, on both Princess and Dance Floor (later signed to Champion Records), you’ll find Wu-Tang Clan chief Raekwon, and repping the UK, SLOWOLF brought in MTA Records’ Grime Prince Dream Mclean, featuring alongside frequent Rihanna / Chase & Status / Example collaborator Takura on 2 Late. Eschewing a typical DJ set, SLOWOLF draws upon his background as a drummer to bash out crazy live rhythms across an MPC. Following a show at Basement, Edition in London with live performances from Dream Mclean and Takura, he was filmed live for Noisey and most recently played the legendary Danish festival Roskilde. “I can’t explain to you how excited I got when I heard this track by SLOWOLF… This is epic on so many levels.” – ALFITUDE “Really excellent first single from SLOWOLF.” – GUARDIAN https://www.facebook.com/slwlf]]>
